Foreword

The video "Outline and bullet points" links to this page here, which contains further information.

This video shows how the outline and bullets can be used in IMPRESS.

This description refers to the version LibreOffice 6.

Use outline and bullet points

Symbols for the outline: "Move level lower", "Move level higher", "Move level down" and "Move level up"
Template: LibreOffice Werbung
File name: "Gliederung und Aufzählung"

Standard template

Toolbar: "Text format"

The Standard template of IMPRESS initially only has slide 1.

The middle text field has no outline switched on.

Even when the outline is switched on, it is not possible to use the symbols

  • "Move level lower"
  • "Move layer higher"
  • "Move down" and
  • "Move up"

in the "Text format" toolbar, they remain grayed out.

This feature seems to have been forgotten for slide 1. sources: Regina [1], Gerhard [2], Peter [3]

If a new slide 2 is created, it already contains an outline with bullets.

From slide 2 on, the above mentioned symbols can now be used according to the situation.

Template used

The template created for this video is based on the standard template.

To avoid the problem of the different behaviour of Slide 1 to Slide 2 ff., a Slide 2 was created and Slide 1 was deleted and then saved as a template again.

This means that all slides behave in the same way in terms of outline, i.e. the symbols mentioned above can be used in all slides depending on the situation.

We now want to use this existing template "LibreOffice Werbung" for our purposes.

We open impress and our template

In the dialog box "Choose a template" we look for the template "LibreOffice Werbung" and click on it and then on Open.

With the opened slide we start our presentation.

Save presentation

First we want to save our presentation.

We click on the "Save" icon 40px.

In the "Save as" dialog box we enter "Outline and bullets" as file name and click Save.

Headline and text for slide 1

All texts, in the headline and in the middle text field, are entered in capital letters.

In the headline field we enter
THE FREEDOM - THE HOL I HAVE TO ME″. For the font size we choose 36.

In the text field in the middle we write >br> ″LIBRE-OFFICE 6: THE FREE OFFICE PACKAGE OF WHICH THE LIBRE OFFICE COMMUNITY HAS DREAMED MORE THAN TWELVE YEARS.
and return.

Notes on: "Control the outline

We continue the text with : THE COMMUNITY BACK LIBRE OFFICE IS THE HEART OF THE PROJECT".

"MOST MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY ARE IN HONORARY OFFICE.

We highlight the text and select Bold.

Now we click on the symbols "Align Center" and "Centered".

For the character color we select hexadecimal 5F4697.

Save presentation

We click on the "Save" icon 40px.

Control the outline

Character color: 5F4697
* With the Tab ↹ key we can initiate an indentation. This can also be done multiple times.
* With ⇧ Shift+Tab ↹ we undo the indentation. This can also be done several times up to the left margin.
* With ⇧ Shift+Return we can continue writing the line without bullet.

Alternatively, the symbols 100px

  • "Move level lower"
  • "Move layer higher"
  • "Move down" and
  • "Move up"

in the "Text format" toolbar can be used according to the situation.
