Anonymizing a document - general

Someone suggests that you upload an anonymized document.

Warning:
Do not use the original file, use a copy instead!

What does that mean?

Personal data is an important asset these days that needs to be protected. Personal data refers to you or other people who may be mentioned in the document. This personal data should be replaced, for example, instead of

"Mr. Peter Maier from Munich sent my wife Karin Müller a birthday card here to Hamburg."

better (anonymized):

"Mr. XY from Location1 sent my wife ABC a birthday card here to Location2."

Other personal data includes addresses, dates of birth, professions, etc., i.e., anything that can be attributed to a person.

However, you can also replace the text completely. To do this, you can use the AutoText function in the Tools ▸ AutoText menu in Writer. Under "Standard" you will find text that you can insert: "Dummy Text" and "Lorem Ipsum". The problem you described should in any case be present in this document.

Always remember that documents you upload to the Internet may be viewed by anyone. It is therefore your decision which document with which text you make available and thus publish.
