Summary:

Rounds a number up to the nearest multiple of a significance value.

For a positive number the function rounds up (away from zero). For a negative number, the function rounds up (towards zero). The sign of the significance value is ignored.

Syntax:

ISO.CEILING(Number [; Significance])

Returns:

Returns an integer value.

Arguments:

Number (required) is the number that is to be rounded, or a reference to a cell containing the number.

Significance (optional) is the value, or a reference to a cell containing the value, to whose multiple Number is to be rounded. It defaults to 1.

This function calculates identical results to the CEILING.PRECISE function.


Examples:

Formula Description Returns
=ISO.CEILING(11.5) rounds up 11.5 to nearest multiple of +1(default) 12
=ISO.CEILING(-11.5) rounds up -11.5 to nearest multiple of -1(default) -11
=ISO.CEILING(-11;-2) rounds up -11 to nearest multiple of -2 -10
=ISO.CEILING(-11;2) rounds up -11 to nearest multiple of -2 rounding up towards 0 ignoring the sign of significance being passed -10
