## Summary:

Rounds a number down, toward zero, to a certain precision.

## Syntax:

ROUNDDOWN(Number [; Count])

## Returns:

Returns Number rounded down (towards zero) to Count decimal places.

## Arguments:

Number is a real number or a reference to the cell containing that number which is to be rounded down to a certain decimal places.

Count is an integer or a reference to the cell containing that integer which is the number of decimal places to which Number is to be rounded down.

If Count is omitted or zero, the function rounds down to an integer. If Count is negative, the function rounds down to the next 10, 100, 1000, etc.

This function rounds towards zero. See ROUNDUP and ROUND for alternatives.

## Examples:

Formula Description Returns
=ROUNDDOWN(2.348;2) rounds down 2.348 to 2 decimal places 2.34
=ROUNDDOWN(-32.4834;3) rounds down -32.4834 to 3 decimal places -32.483
=ROUNDDOWN(2.648;0) give integer part of 2.348 by rounding down 2
=ROUNDDOWN(-45.67) rounds down -45.67 to integer away from 0 -45
=ROUNDDOWN(987.65;-2) rounds down 987.65 to 2 places before decimal point 900
