Per-user/per-window

Hi Vmiklos. Sorry for my wrong correction [1]. Per-window sounds still strange for me and according to your linked blog entry it is per-user [2]. --LibreOfficeUser25 (talk) 11:59, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi! If you have a better way of describing it, feel free to change the wording. :-) My point is that the Window -> New Window menu item is meant to provide a single user with multiple windows, and that's what is mentioned for the libreoffice release notes. My blog post also covers Collabora Online, where this is indeed per-user, but that probably doesn't belong here. Thanks! --Vmiklos (talk) 12:35, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

Let me think about this. Is it possible for the same user to open the same document twice and how is the behaviour of this new feature then? Is the setting for change tracking in both windows always the same or is it "per window" then too? So the same user can open the same document with and without change tracking at the same time? Then "per window" seems to be the best description. --LibreOfficeUser25 (talk) 22:03, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
The underlying feature has been available for many years. Why not test it yourself? https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/shared/01/07010000.html After testing with 25.2, test Miklós's addition by installing an unstable build. --Beluga (talk) 13:36, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
