How to enlarge the area reserved to footnotes?

When footnotes are long, they may not fit completely on the page referred to by the note, which may then continue onto the following page.

It is possible to increase the space reserved for notes from its default value. This space is a page style property.

To modify the current page style:

    • Format ▸ Page ▸ Footnote tab
    • select Maximum footnote height and give it a value.

    Note:

    • click the Maximum footnote height area and use the Page Up & Page Down to get the maximum and minimum values. Indeed these vary depending on the page size and margin settings
    • it is also possible to use the Styles window: display the page style and then right-click on it to modify it (especially in cases where the change does not relate to the current page style.)
