Subject: [libreoffice-design] Minutes of the Design Hangout: 2017-Jun-22 From: Heiko Tietze <tietze.heiko@googlemail.com> Date: Thu, 22 Jun 2017 14:10:46 +0200 To: LibO Design <design@global.libreoffice.org> Present: Tomaz, Jay, Heiko Reminders + Reopening a ticket needs four-eye based decision (We had in the past some situations where a closed ticket was reopend rather for personal reasons. The suggestion is to get another opinion in cases where a decision was made. So please just comment closed tickets and do not reopen until someone else agrees with you. The same for reopened ticket, have a second opinion or better we discuss the topic at the meeting.) Organization * Major release update / branding for 6.0 + https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2017/06/16/motif-next-release-prefer/ + Cube variants is the preferred design + Will try to professionalize it (Heiko) * Guest contribution on the design blog? + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59611 -> c12 -> Agreement on the idea Tickets * Removal of Format > Column entry + https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/39017/ + Pro: Available in Format > Page and Format > Sections + Con: Apply to text selection missing; going with Insert > Section, Format > Section > Option is tedious + Users likely expect a simple columnize option + General approach what dialogs are subsummized under others and what not missing + Aim is to remove redundancy and shrink the menu (Jay) + Similar to watermark which is not an extra dialog but part of page settings (Jay) + We better wait with the patch until we have a split/menu button that offers quick access at toolbar/sidebar (Heiko) + Also consider to add/change presets in the columns dialog so the user can define the quick access options + We have a split button like this in the Insert toolbar (Jay) -- Dr. Heiko Tietze UX designer Tel. +49 (0)179/1268509
