Minutes

Subject: [libreoffice-design] Minutes of the Design Hangout: 2017-Jul-20
From: Heiko Tietze <tietze.heiko@googlemail.com>
Date: Thu, 20 Jul 2017 14:18:07 +0200
To: LibO Design <design@global.libreoffice.org>
Present: Jay, Heiko

Organization

* Participation in the design meeting declined
+ no response to the question last week
+ will ask people directly what we can improve

Tickets

* Optionally disable context dependency of toolbars
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107388
+ bug already present to enable/disable contextual behaviour of toolbars
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103240
=> DUP

* Change sidebar deck label 'Properties' to 'Formatting'
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88742
+ for - Heiko, Adolfo, Stuart
+ against - Jay
+ Alternatives: Attributes, Features, Characteristics
+ To discuss: rename also the context and main menu entries from Properties to the new term
=> awaiting additional opinions/comments

* Enhance spell checking with 'rarely used' flag/book
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90006
+ Tools > Spelling > Options... > User-defined, New allows to add as user dictionaries
+ unknown words can be assigned to any of the predefined dics
+ users can separate rarely used or usecase-wise 'project related' items to different dictionaries
=> WFM

* Rotation of images with frames (ie. caption)
+ https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107003
+ Do not enable the 'relative' option when the object receives a frame?
+ Without releative property the image is cropped if rotated or when the frame is resized
+ Option a) unset relative settings before the operation
+ Option b) let the user decide whether the relative setting is enabled or not in the caption dialog (feedback)
+ none is a good solution
=> WFM

* GSoC'17 Special Caharcters, Input line missing (Stuart)
+ Loss of functionality reported at the ux-advice ML http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/GSOC-work-on-Special-Character-dialog-td4217853.html
+ Strongly against the request to keep the input line for combination of characters (Heiko)
=> Please file a bug report that blocks to bug tdf#109207 to discuss the topic

Cheers,
Heiko
