    Label printing

In contrast to the serial letter, serial labels print the data of several data records on one page. To ensure this, the special field Next record is required.

To create serial labels you can use the same data source as for normal serial printing. Also the re-creation of a data source works analogous to the "normal" mail merge (see chapter The data source).

    Creating the output document

Creating an output document works in the first step in the same way as in LibreOffice mail merge. First you need to choose the format of your labels. To do this, go to the menu File → New → Labels.

    Dialog for creating labels
    Dialog for creating labels

In this dialog you only need to select the format. The rest of the fields are only needed for LibreOffice label printing.

After that you switch to the tab Options. There is one more important setting there, which makes the creation of the labels much easier. If not already activated, check the box Synchronize contents. This will allow you to transfer the contents of the first label cell to all the others relatively quickly.

After setting the checkmark, a small window with a button Synchronize labels will appear in your series labels. To create the initial document confirm the New document button.

    Inserting the merge fields

In principle, inserting mail merge fields works the same way as with "normal" mail merge. When creating labels, you only have to make sure that you always make the entries in the upper left field. The transfer to the other fields is then done by Synchronize labels.

After you have confirmed your label format, start the WollMux mail merge, select your data source and insert the required fields. Two things are still missing here: first, the labels still need to be synchronized and second, the special field Next record has not been inserted yet.

One would now assume that something is wrong here, since the same entry is in all fields. In this case, however, the preview only shows the optical structure, not the correct content. Now press the button Print in the sidebar and select the output format, e.g. total print. Only in this step the correct data will be inserted.

    Adjust incorrect page margins

Sometimes the margins of the paper labels do not match the margins of the document created using the Labels function. In this case, adjust the page format. Most of the time you will achieve the desired effect with A4.

If necessary, change the page format from User to A4 using Format → Page... → Tab Page → Paper Size, or adjust the page margins if you have problems printing.
