Talk:Android

    From The Document Foundation Wiki

I believe the lead section has aged to become a disservice to TDF's LibreOffice support of Android.

    • I believe the lead section needs to reflect that an Android editor is available using "LibreOffice Technology", available from Collabora, known as Collabora Office and that it is in app stores. Currently, it says that LibreOffice is only available on Android as a "READER" and a remote control, I don't think this is in TDF's best interest for promoting LibreOffice, please will someone update this lead paragraph.
    • The downloads link for "LibreOffice Viewer for Android" link is a dead link, please will someone correct this.
    • I updated the paragraph about Collabora under the next section "Trying it out" as it was a couple of years old, it appeared as if everything is in BETA.
    • An Android LibreOffice editing app is not mentioned in the lead, so one might think that the section "Trying it out" is for the "READER" and "remote control". I believe the lead needs to be updated to reflect there is an editing app for TDF/LibreOffice's best interest.

I've tried to address the above suggestions by
    * merging the "Trying it out" section into the lead (so the editor is mentioned there now as suggested) and adapting it slightly
    * adapting the download link to go to the general daily build landing page (which currently doesn't have any daily builds for Android, but those might be re-added) and also mentioning F-Droid as an alternative source to get the app
Could you please take a look and check whether this is better now?
