How do I insert dummy text in Writer?

Dummy text can be inserted using the Autotext feature, which can be managed in the Tools ▸ AutoText menu. LibreOffice has a built-in AutoText entry called Dummy Text containing a piece of dummy text, which can be called with the shortcut dt.

To do this, follow these steps:

    • Place the cursor where you want to insert the text.
    • Type the AutoText shortcut:
    dt

    • Press F3 to replace the shortcut with the AutoText entry.

The name of this AutoText may vary depending on the interface language (tex in French p.e.). Other AutoTexts can also be used for dummy text, for example, the Lorem Ipsum AutoText entry can be used to insert Lorem Ipsum pseudo-latin text by using lorem in place of dt.
