How do I revert the character formatting to the default while entering text / clear formatting?
Example : you enter text with default formatting, then with an underlining for a while. After that, you want to return to default formatting.
In this example, you have pressed the key combination Ctrl + U before "then". To come back to the default formatting, press the key combination Ctrl + U immediately after "while".
It is possible to disable a property by pressing the same keys that activated it, here Ctrl + U and use Ctrl + M or ⇧ Shift + Ctrl + X to remove all the font effects (italic, bold, underlined, strikethrough, ...) or
▸ (or Default formatting for the older versions).Note that Clear Direct Formatting does as it says, clearing only directly applied formatting, but formatting can come from Paragraph Styles or Character Styles or List Styles. All those can be seen and checked for formatting in
▸ that is part of ▸ . For any position in a file, ▸ deck shows applied formatting.New paragraph style may or may not remove direct formatting. When you apply paragraph style, the action does reset the direct formatting set on the paragraph level. It does not change any format (direct or style) set on character level (with an exception when the character direct formatting spans the whole paragraph).
