Talk:Development/VCL

    From The Document Foundation Wiki

Thanks for the Wiki article about VCL. The article compares VCL to wxWidgets, which raises two questions that the article does not mention. Maybe, it would be helpful to add this information: (1) Does VCL have language bindings (such as Rust, Python, etc.) or is it just a toolkit for C++ . See e.g. https://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Bindings (2) Is the aim of VCL to be just used within LibreOffice or does it aim to be used outside LibreOffice, too, just like wxWidgets? I remember that StarDivision wanted VCL to become a universal toolkit and, as far as remember, developed StarOffice 3.0 to show off the potentials of VCL as universal toolkit.

No, it doesn't have language bindings and it doesn't aspire to be used outside LibreOffice as adoption by others never happened.--Beluga (talk) 21:20, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
