Create My Master Slide - Discription to the Video - Part 1

Why do I need a master slide?

In the master slide you can define everything that should be visible and the same on all slides.

This can be a background image, a logo, the date and the page number.

    Note pin.svg

    Note:
If you want to use different background images on each slide, you can insert them directly on the slides.

    Open Impress

Already with the call of Impress the dialog ″Choose a template″ appears.

In this, ready-made presentation layouts are offered.

Click Cancel and you will get the simple standard template called "Title Slide".

You can create your own master slide from the standard template and save it as a template.

In the Sidebar″ at ″Slide Properties″ the screen format is set to 16:9 in landscape mode.

This corresponds to today's templates and the widely used screen standard.

If a different screen format is selected, the existing fields on the slide should be adjusted as required.

    Select layout

In the sidebar you can different layouts can be selected.

Leave it at the selected layout ″Title Slide″.

    Switch on master view

Furthermore, the button for the master view is also located in ″Sidebar″ at ″Properties″ 201806 LO HB Button Masteransicht.png.

    Click the Master View button.

In the master view you can now adjust the format, (size, font, font color) of all elements such as headline, text and the fields of the footer, which should be visible on all slides of the template.

    Now edit these elements.

    Rename Master

The first step is to select ″Rename Master″ 201806 LO HB Symbol Master umbenennen.png.

The dialog box ″Rename Slide″ displays ″Default″ as the name of the master slide.

Now you can enter a suitable name, for example ″Master Slide LibreOffice″ and click OK.

Renaming is not absolutely necessary, you can also simply reconfigure the master slide ″Default″.

However, if several master slides are used, it is important to distinguish between them by name.

    Adjust format of heading

Select the text in the heading.

Now select the font size 40 at ″Properties″.

For the font color select hexadecimal 18A303.

On the toolbar ″Standard″ click on the ″Insert Image″ icon 201806 LO HB Symbol Bild einfuegen.png.

In the dialog that opens ″Insert Image″ select the image ″Logo-quadrat.png″.

    Click on Open.

The logo is placed centered on the slide.

If the logo is marked, change the dimensions at ″Position and Size″ in the sidebar.
