    This video shows how a simple Housekeeping book can be designed in Calc.

    Calc create Housekeeping book

    Open work file

    Open Calc and the existing work file "Housekeeping book - Haushaltsbuch - in Calc".

    The Housekeeping book is initially created for one year and contains monthly, half-yearly and yearly expenditure.

    Value Highlighting

    You can switch on highlighting values.

    Choose View ▸ Value Highlighting from the menu. ( Ctrl+F8 ).

    The display is then a colored highlighting:

    • Numbers = blue
    • Formulas = green
    • Text = black

    Labelling the months

    Complete the labels for the months.

    To do this, click on the cell "C1"="January" and drag the lower right corner to the right until column "N".

    Create total earnings January

    Now click in cell "C6", here the sum of the earning for January is to be calculated.

    Click on the small arrow down next to the totals symbol in the formula bar and click on the "Sum" symbol and press ↵ Enter.

    Create total earnings February to December

    Click again in cell "C6" and you will see the calculation at the top of the input line.

    We drag right at the bottom right corner of the cell to column "N".

    You have now made the calculations, the totals January to December for the revenue [1].

    Create total expenditures January

    Now click in the cell "C17", here the sum of the expenditures for January should be calculated.

    In the formula bar, click on the small down arrow next to the sum icon and click on the "Sum" icon and press ↵ Enter.

    Create total expenditures February to December

    Again, click in the cell "C17" and you will see the formula at the top of the formula bar.

    Drag the bottom right corner of the cell to the right until column "N".

    You have now created the calculations of the totals, January to December, for the expenditures [2].

    Create totals for half-yearly and yearly

    Click on the table tab "Regular costs EN".

    Listed here are the expenditures that do not occur on a monthly basis.

    Here you calculate the sums for half-yearly [3] and yearly [4].

    Insert share half-yearly and yearly in the table ″Housekeeping book EN″

    Click on the table tab "Housekeeping book EN".

    In cell "C15" take the sum "half-yearly" [5] from the tab "Regular costs EN" and divide it by six.

    In cell "C16" you take the sum " yearly" [6], from the tab "Regular costs EN" and divide it by twelve.

    Note:
    The monthly split amounts, for half-yearly and yearly, should be set aside accordingly by the payment date.

    Copy monthly earnings and expenditures from January to the remaining months

    Copy earnings item

    Select cells ″C3″ through ″C5″.

    Press Ctrl + C and paste the copied into rows ″C3″ to ″C5″ of the columns "D" to "N".

    Copy expenditure item ″C9″ to ″C14″

    Select the cells ″C9″ to ″C14″.

    Press Ctrl + C and paste the copy into the lines ″C9″ to ″C14″ of the columns ″D″ to ″N″.

    Copy expenditure items ″C15″ and ″C16″

    Copy the formula contents of the cell ″C15″ from the formula bar.

    Insert ″D15″ to ″N15″ in each cell.

    Copy the formula contents of the cell ″C16″ from the formula bar.

    Insert ″D16″ to ″N16″ in each cell.

    The earnings and expenditure can of course be adjusted according to your own needs.
