Apply AutoFormat templates
Tables should often look representative.
Doing this manually every time, especially when you need to create tables frequently, is very time consuming.
To simplify this work, we can use the function "AutoFormat templates ..." to automatically apply desired formats to a table or to a selected range of cells.
We open Calc.
We select at least 4 x 4 cells, or larger, as large as the table should be later, including the required column and row headings and sums to be automatically formatted.
Then we select
▸ .In the "AutoFormat" dialog box, we can choose which formatting – ("Numbers", "Font", "Orientation", "Outline", "Pattern" and / or "Automatically adjust width / height") - to AutoFormat want to involve.
We select the desired "Format" and click on
.Redefine an AutoFormat template
If we do not like any of the given formats, we can also create a format ourselves.
To do this, we format an area on the worksheet of at least 4 x 4 cells, or larger, as large as the table should be later, including the headings for rows and columns and the display of sums.
Now we define all details for our template.
This affects the font and size, orientation, border, and colors.
When the table is complete, we mark the entire table space and select
▸ .In the dialog box, "AutoFormat" we click on Add.
In the opening dialog box, "Add AutoFormat" we give a name, e.g. "Format_01", for our new format and click on
.
The newly created format, "Format_01" will now be displayed in the "AutoFormat" dialog box with the name on the left.
We close the dialog box with
.We can now use the new format "Format_01".
Note:
If the change in the color of the cell contents is not displayed, select
▸ from the menu bar or press Ctrl + F8.This feature only affects cells with numeric data.
Sidebar - Styles/Table Styles in Writer
The sidebar (F11) displays the Table Styles that are also in the list in the "AutoFormat" dialog box.
Once you have added a new AutoFormat Style, it is also selectable in the sidebar for Table Styles.
So you can also mark a table and assign the desired table style with a double click.
