Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcut key Effect

Ctrl+Home

Places the cursor in the first cell of the sheet (A1).

Ctrl+End

Places the cursor in the last cell that contains data or has a defined background or borders.

Home

Places the cursor in the first cell on the current row.

End

Places the cursor in the last cell of the current row.

Ctrl+Left arrow

Places the cursor to the left of the current data range. If the column to the left of the cell containing the cursor is empty, it will move left to the next column which contains data.

Ctrl+Right Arrow

Places the cursor to the right of the current data range. If the column to the right of the cell containing the cursor is empty, it will move right to the next column which contains data.

Ctrl+Up Arrow

Places the cursor at the top of the current data range. If the row above the cell containing the cursor is empty, it will move up to the next row which contains data.

Ctrl+Down arrow

Places the cursor at the bottom of the current data range. If the row below the cell containing the cursor is empty, it will move down to the next row which contains data.

Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Arrow key

Selects all the cells containing data from the current cell to the end of the range of cells containing data, in the direction of the key used. If you choose rows and columns simultaneously, a rectangular range is selected.

Ctrl+Page Up

Goes one sheet to the left. In print preview: goes to the previous page.

Ctrl+Page Down

Goes one sheet to the right. In print preview: goes to the next page

Alt+Page UP

Goes one screen to the left.

Alt+Page Down

Goes one screen to the right.

Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Page Up

Adds the previous sheet (if there is one) to the current selection. If all the sheets of a spreadsheet are selected and the current sheet is not the first, this shortcut key allows you to select just the previous sheet (transform the previous sheet into the current and only selected sheet).

Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Page Down

Adds the next sheet (if there is one) to the current selection. If all the sheets of a spreadsheet are selected and the current sheet is not the last, this shortcut key allows you to select just the next sheet (transform the next sheet into the current and only selected sheet).

Ctrl+*

Selects the data range containing the cursor. A "range" is defined as a series of contiguous cells containing data and delimitef by empty rows and column.

Ctrl+/

where / is the division sign on the numeric pad

Selects the range of the matrix formula containing the cursor.

Ctrl++

Plus key on the numeric pad

Inserts cells (like Insert ▸ Cells)

Ctrl+-

Minus key on the numeric pad

Deletes cells (like Edit ▸ Delete cells)

↵ Enter (on a selected range)

Moves the cursor towards the cell following a selected range. To specify the direction of the cursor movement, go to Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice Calc ▸ General.

Ctrl+` (see the note at the bottom of this table)

Toggles the display of formulas in place of values in all cells.


The ` key is next to the "1" on most English keyboards. If your keyboard does not contain this key, you can assign a different one: Go to ToolsCustomise and click on  the keyboard tab. Select the category "Display" and the function "Toggle formulas".
