Spell-checking doesn't work!
If, when you type a word with a spelling mistake, it is not underlined by a red wave, here are the things to check by order:
If this happens in all documents
- A dictionary must be installed for your language. The installation is done by an extension as explained in this item. You must close LibreOffice completely, including the quick starter, in order for the new dictionary to be taken into account. The default dictionary for your language is installed.
- Check that the dictionary is installed:
- Go to the ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ menu, click the Edit button.
-
-
- In the Language drop-down box, select Your_language, which must be preceded by the A icon (before version 5.X the icon contained an ABC).
- In the Spelling module, a dictionary must be checked (by default Hunspell SpellChecker).
-
- Check that the feature is enabled:
- In the menu ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ must be checked (this option is directly accessible in the Standard toolbar).
- Check that the default language is your: in the ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ , enter Your_language.
If this happens only in some documents, or after the previous checks have been made
- Verify that the language of the paragraph in the current text is the one you have specified as yours, as well as the Standard Style
- in Writer, display the Style and Formatting window with F11, in the Paragraph Styles, right click Standard then Modify.
-
- In Calc, ▸ ▸ ▸ menu
- In Impress or Draw, ▸ ▸ ▸ menu.
If this does not work
This tip may be able to save you:
- Change the default language for one other than yours, then change back to yours:
- In the ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ menu, specify a language other than Yours.
- Confirm and close LibreOffice completely, including the quick starter.
- Restart LibreOffice and open the ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ ▸ , enter Your_language.
- Confirm and close LibreOffice completely, including the quick starter.
